Our proposal was to create a new artificial horizontal platform with vertical surfaces on the ground floor, using simple materials in their natural state such as unrendered concrete and local traditional stonework. This new artificial landscape, half sunk into the ground, holds a white building box that contains the private rooms of the house. Wooden sliding shutters which are used to secure privacy to the four bedrooms in the house and achieve through their use and their transparency fluidity of space between private rooms, open areas and the surrounding landscape. By placing the shutters on the outside perimeter of the balcony they transform the outside space into an open room and becomes an extension of the interior.
The house is experienced as a new landscape bounded by nature, surfaces and simple materials in their natural state, transparency and an interplay between the natural and the artificial, light and shadow. Through this interplay we produced relationships and forms that characterize the project.
